Metaframes: websites as plug-and-play, editable, shareable components

This will be a white paper about metaframes:

  • what problem they solve
  • how you use them
  • how they work
  • future capabilities

Problems they solve

  • When you find something you like on the internet, that is actually free or open for you to take and use and modify, there are many technical barriers preventing you from doing so
  • A lot of “editable websites” are locked behind proprietary walls. Your work only exists at the whim of the business or entity, you don’t really own it in the sense that it will be around longer than e.g. the business
    • There is no deep-time strategy
  • Connecting useful things on the internet requires too much specialized knowledge and even with that knowledge, much time
  • Connecting APIs can also involve third party services, another layer of cost, complexity, and risk
